\"Business<\/a>Section 2 of the Health and Safety at Work act imposes a general duty on employers to provide instruction and training, to ensure, as far as reasonably practical, the health and safety at work of employees. The Regulatory Reform Order (Fire Safety) Oct 2005 places a requirement, that at least a proportion of Staff should be trained and able to tackle a small fire.<\/p>\n

Section 6 of the Fire Precautions Act 1971, empowers the fire authority to impose such requirements\u00a0as the fire authority consider appropriate in the circumstance to ensure that:<\/p>\n

\u2018persons employed to work in the premises receive appropriate instruction or training in what to do\u00a0in case of fire, and that records are kept of instruction or training given for that purpose\u2019.<\/p>\n

Guidance contained in the Guide to Fire Precautions in Existing Places of Work That Require a Fire Certificate, recommends \u2018that instruction should be given by a competent person, to ensure that everyone at work is instructed, preferably twice, but at least once, every year\u2019.<\/p>\n
